What is Grab&Eat?

Grab and Eat is an innovative platform designed to revolutionize in-store shopping by enabling customers to scan products and pay directly from their mobile devices. By eliminating the need for physical checkouts, the system provides a seamless, fast, and fully self-service shopping experience.

Their stores operate 24/7 in self-service stores located within office complexes and shopping centers. These stores function without staff, ensuring a completely autonomous shopping process for users.

However, as the platform continues to grow, its core software requires modernization to meet evolving user demands. This project focuses on rebuilding Asignate with cutting-edge technology, enhancing its efficiency, scalability, and overall performance to support future expansion.

The Challenge

As Grab and Eat expanded its self-service stores, the need for a cutting-edge digital experience became crucial. The challenge was to create a Mobile app with a seamless, intuitive, and scalable platform that enhanced the customer journey while maintaining operational efficiency. So anyone could understand how to shop staff-free.

  • User Experience & Design


A simple and intuitive interface was designed, enabling users to scan product barcodes effortlessly. Customers could view their selected items in a virtual cart, apply available promotions, and continue scanning without interruptions. The final step allowed them to choose a preferred payment without the need for physical checkout counters and mobile wallets.

  • Technology & Infrastructure


The app was built with a cloud-based backend, ensuring real-time inventory updates and secure transaction processing. Barcode scanning technology was seamlessly integrated to provide fast and accurate product recognition. Secure payment gateways were implemented, supporting multiple digital payment methods such as credit/debit cards and mobile wallets.

  • Operational Scalability

A modular system was developed to support the expansion of Grab and Eat into multiple locations. A real-time CRM with Odoo Integtration allowed store owners to monitor inventory levels, track sales performance, and manage promotions efficiently. The system was optimized to handle high transaction volumes while maintaining a smooth user experience.

Our Solution

To reach Grab&Eat objectives, we created an app that allows users to: scan products they wish to buy using their phone’s camera, add items to their virtual cart, pay directly through the app, and receive a digital receipt.

  • Product Scanning: Customers can scan the barcode or QR code of products with their phone’s camera. 
  • Virtual Shopping Cart: Selected products are automatically added to the cart, with the total amount displayed in real-time.
  • Secure Payment Methods: Customers can pay via credit/debit cards or digital wallets like Google Pay and Apple Pay.
  • Digital Receipt: The app generates a digital receipt that is accessible directly from the phone, eliminating the need for physical receipts.
  • Real-Time Inventory Management: The admin dashboard allows store owners to manage products, track inventory, and view customer behavior statistics.

Grab and Eat successfully transformed the self-service shopping experience, making it faster, more convenient, and fully autonomous. Customers now enjoy a seamless, queue-free purchasing process, while store operators benefit from reduced operational costs and enhanced sales insights.
